Judges
RBA 2008 Judges
I would like to thank the follwing for judging this year's Recruitment Business Awards.
On the Creative Panel are:
Anna Fleetwood, Feather Brooksbank
Having joined the recruitment advertising industry as a graduate trainee, Anna went on to work her way up through the ranks at brilliant media managing a number of high profile accounts. In 2005 she left to jointly set up a fourth office for Feather Brooksbank based in Leeds. In addition to building a strong client base from scratch, Anna also played a strategic role in changing Feather Brooksbank’s business model from being purely based on media planning and buying to becoming a full service recruitment communications agency. This change in approach culminated in Anna being appointed as Head of Recruitment Communications in 2008.
Nick Young, TCS
Nick Young is the Creative Director for TCS in Manchester. Graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a Graphic Design BA (Hons) in 1998, he went on to work for various Design agencies in Manchester. Nick started his career at TCS in 2002, working in a number of capacities from Designer to Deputy Creative Director, until his promotion to Creative Director in October of 2007.
A regular judge at creative awards Nick is widely recognised as a key figure by his industry peers. He is also the only person from his school to hold a 5 metre swimming badge, after completing half a width in 1982.
Richard Hartley - Euro RSCG Riley
Richard has been a copywriter in the recruitment advertising industry for over 14 years. He began his career at HB Advertising and was a senior creative at both TMP and Barkers before joining Euro RSCG Riley in 2001. Proud to head up an award-winning creative team, Richard has played an instrumental role in the growth and success of the Manchester agency. He’s been asked to judge the awards for a fourth year – so he must be doing something right. Outside of work, he’s a proud father and an armchair Manchester United fan.
Chris Skinner, Senior Online Recruitment Strategist, Reading Room
Chris has worked in the recruitment communications industry for more than 10 years and has managed clients in just about every sector and industry. After starting his employed life at Reed Business Publishing, Chris joined Accenture and spent three years as a Management Consultant. Chris was lured into the recruitment advertising world with Bartlett Advertising and then spent 6 years at Park (now Work), eventually progressing to running their Graduate Division. Chris’s next long port of call was with Barkers, where he worked for over 4 years up to May 2008. Chris was Client Relationship Director at Barkers and looked after all the commercial business in London, involving household names such as Accenture, Honda and Siemens. Chris has now joined the Reading Room, a UK top 10 Digital Marketing agency, to launch a Recruitment division focusing on building careers sites and advising organisations on successful online recruitment marketing, SEM and SEO strategy.
Away from work Chris enjoys being a part-time golfer, a part-time footballer and a full-time father to his three lovely boys.
Chris Bennett, ThirtyThree
With about 20 years experience in the advertising and design business, Chris wasn’t always involved with recruitment advertising. He began in a design agency in Bristol in the late 80’s and after several years in agencies in Bristol and Bath responded to an ad and joined Sandersons Recruitment Agency as Creative Director. After a couple of years, Sandersons were acquired by TMP. Chris headed up the creative function in Bristol until taking a regional role. A few years later, Chris joined ThirtyThree in Bristol as Creative Director and has been building the team over the last 3 or 4 years. When not on the Mac, he can be found singing and playing harmonica in one of three bands on the live music circuit in Bristol.

Joanne Carter, Concept Personnel
Jo began her career in 1993 working for a family owned printing company as a pre-press mac operator. In 1994 she moved south and worked for a typesetting studio in Bedfordshire. In 1997 came the lucky break into the agency arena when Jo secured a job as an Artworker in the studio of Marketing and Advertising Agency in Oxfordshire working on the Mercedes-Benz account. She worked her way up within the agency and when she moved back to the North in 1999 it was to take up a role of Studio Manager in a Design Agency in Newcastle upon Tyne. In May 2002 Jo was made redundant. She spotted a gap in the market and at the age of 29 she established the North East of England’s first recruitment agency servicing the thriving advertising, marketing and digital media industry.
Today in 2008 Concept Personnel are in their 6th year of business and have a second office servicing Scotland’s creative capitals of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
It’s a privilege to be invited to judge at the 6th Recruitment Business Awards and to play my part in recognising and honouring the standards of excellence being achieved by my colleagues in the recruitment industry.

Jim Tudor - Euro RSCG Riley
Jim is the Managing Director of the Manchester agency, covering the North of England, and is also a Main Board Director. Since 2003, Jim has led the agency to many notable achievements, including the creation of the NOW People consortium - a model for joined up local government recruitment – and the recent employer marketing re-brand of Virgin Media. Jim also leads the national ASDA account.
Under Jim’s leadership, the Manchester agency has built a reputation for creative excellence, winning RAD Awards in each of the last four years, as well as numerous RBA, MEN and HEIST Awards. Out of work he likes American TV Box-sets, learning creative stuff from his kids, and is partial to the occasional black sambuca (lit of course). He still idolises Eric Cantona.
